Hi, my name is Debbie Berry and I have loved and owned dogs since my childhood. I received my first award of merit for dog training in 1968 from 'Middlesbrough Road Safety Dog School' when I was just 11 years old. I have been an active member of Dog Training Clubs in and around the local area ever since.
At present we have seven dogs in our family; Lula a 'Bichon Frise' born in 2004, Kayo a Parsons Jack Russell born 2004, Cameron a Border Collie born 2007, Adam an English Shepherd born 2007 and Emmaretta a Border Collie also born 2007. Jack, a Parsons Jack Russell born 2009 and Poppy a retired greyhound born 2000. I have enjoyed competing at Crufts in the sport of Flyball many times over the years. In 1997 my team were runners up in the Crufts Flyball Grand Finals.
In 2004, I trained up a team of junior flyball handlers & dogs and in 2005 - the first time that they had ever competed at Crufts in the Young Kennel Clubs Flyball competition, they very proudly came away with First place. We now compete in British Flyball Association flyball where I am also a judge. The dogs and myself really enjoy our times out together meeting many new and interesting friends.
I have also been involved in the dogs trust 'Home from Home Retraining Scheme' as a foster carer. This was very rewarding work which involved bringing a stressed dog into my own home and 'pack' assessing its needs, and caring for its emotional and training welfare whilst in my care. This helped to ensure that when a potential owner was matched to the dog and the dog would fit more easily into to a permanent loving home. I am at present Secretary and Head Trainer of 'Crazy Cannons Flyball Teams' A British Flyball Association, registered club.
We train once weekly and compete most weekends at venues around the country. I have certificates from 'The Northern Centre for Canine Behaviour' in 'Canine Training and Instructing' & 'Canine Behaviour' These courses were ran by Canine expert John Rogerson.
I hope this information enables you to feel you know a little about myself and my passion for dogs I look forward to meeting you and finding out about you and your dog too.
